About Degree

Fight food insecurity on the global stage

Earth’s capacity to renew its resources is in decline, but humanity’s need for nutritious food grows daily. Innovative science solutions are necessary for survival, and big picture thinking is critical for ensuring truly equitable outcomes across the globe.

What will you do?

Delivered over one year full-time, our Graduate Diploma in Global Food and Nutrition Science will equip you with the technical skills needed to enter this exciting field. You will:

  • expand your understanding of global food security, safety, and sustainability
  • critically evaluate local, national, and international legislative and regulatory policy
  • expand your knowledge of nutrigenomics and metabolic nutrition
  • apply sensory and flavour science to new product development
  • investigate emerging processing and preservation techniques
  • consider value-adding and reformulation advances
  • explore current food trends and opportunities for industry
  • tackle social justice issues in global food systems
  • build peer relationships in your own learning space, within the University’s dedicated Food Innovation Laboratory

Where could it take you?

You might create formulas for NGOs in developing nations. You could help coastal communities scale seaweed production. Perhaps you want to study the effects of COVID-19 on global food systems in preparation for future pandemics.
