About Degree
A foundation for advanced engineering
Mechatronic engineering combines mechanics, electronics and computing. Mechatronic engineers work comfortably across all three areas, creating complex robotics and artificially intelligent technologies.
Our Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Mechatronic) is suited to engineering graduates and working engineers with relevant experience.
What will you do?
The program acts as a foundational year for the Master of Engineering (Mechatronic). It’s designed to upskill students for advanced studies and career opportunities. You will:
- gain hands-on mechatronic experience through small-group projects
- study heat transfer and thermodynamics
- learn about dynamics, control and microcontroller programming
- develop skills for research, communication, critical thinking, business and management.
Note: If you’re currently enrolled in the master program and wish to exit with the graduate diploma, see the academic requirements for this degree.

Careers
Career Readiness
Mechatronic engineers offer expertise in the fields of combustion, noise and vibration control, energy technology, vibrations, control systems, robotics, quality management, bioengineering, aeronautics or fluid mechanics, water supply, mining, manufacturing, production planning, maintenance planning, consumer product design, pollution control and new materials.
They may design, construct and maintain intelligent machines, micro-machines, smart structures, intelligent systems, control systems and consumer products such as cameras and washing machines. Alternatively, they may apply these skills to a fully automated robotic assembly line, or they may be involved with defence technology and automated systems.
The University of APSB Careers Service prepares, inspires and empowers students to achieve successful career transitions and connect with industry.
